This position is located in the Specialized Technical Expertise Cluster. The incumbent reports directly to the Chief.
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, international law or related field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in the specified fields with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in law, including legal analysis, research and writing is required. A minimum of three years of experience in the field of gender policy analysis and mainstreaming is desirable. Experience related to counter-terrorism is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the position advertised fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
