The post is located in the Sustainable Transport Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. The Sustainable Transport Division works to facilitate the international movement of persons and goods by inland transport modes and to improve competitiveness, safety, energy efficiency, environmental performance and security in inland transport and to contribute effectively to sustainable development. The incumbent reports directly to the Chief of the Sustainable Transport Division.
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in economics, law or related field. A first-level university degree in any of these fields, in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in a national administration or international organization, dealing with sustainable transport development, inland transport infrastructure planning and/or cross-border facilitation of inland transport at the international level is required. Demonstrated management and leadership experience is required. Experience in organizing meetings and drafting reports is also required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
