Position

This position helps CHAI India to provide capacity building support (technical assistance and training) at all administrative levels in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The position will ensure the quality and accuracy of training materials and messages are as per the project plans. This position will communicate, connect, and coordinate with other partners, branches of the state government and NGO stakeholders, and international donors to ensure successful design and implementation of the large and complex portfolio of capacity building activities.

The ideal candidate should have core implementation experience of capacity building efforts in a large scale program; this would include managing a large/diverse set of the implementation partners, advocacy drives at the district/block level and monitoring quality of the trainings being rendered as part of the program.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a holistic and integrated capacity building strategy for the state in collaboration with the Program Managers. As such, deliver all capacity development-related activities for partner NGOs and their networks in diverse areas of organizational development.

  • Review existing modules developed by WJCF and customise it in the context of project requirement. As such, develop materials and processes for specific areas/topics identified as needed for capacity development of partners, including training, mentoring and coaching of partners, peer learning and other methodologies.
  • Ensure timely completion of all trainings and the operational data gathering requirements in the project and monitor the effectiveness of the trainings.
  • Support and monitor partner interventions and ensure standard quality of training and data gathering information in the project.
  • Produce high quality reports to be shared with the donors and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relations with the concerned government departments in the districts of intervention.
  • Conceptualise innovative mechanism to deliver all capacity building and demand interventions implemented by partners in the project-in the conjunction with Delhi team counterparts.
  • Manage partner programme and monitor progress a per the agreed work plan. Conduct monthly and quarterly review meetings to track partner performance and develop specific action plans for each of the CHAI partners. Ensure flexibility and high quality of the capacity development support provided to the partners.
  • Contribute to the development of annual workplans, performance monitoring systems and tools, and writing of program reports.
  • Document the best practices of capacity building exercise and lessons learned.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduation (or equivalent) qualification in one of the following areas: social sciences, international development, economics, specific training on conducting participatory trainings will be an added advantage.
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience in similar organisational/functional context.

Other specifications

  • Experience in analysing capacity gaps of the partner organisations and helping them develop and execute plans to address them.
  • Experience in coordinating with district administration.
  • Exceptional communications and presentation skills, both written and oral, in Hindi and English.
  • Proactive and self-motivated individual capable of engaging persuasively with various stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Ability to travel extensively on short notice.
  • Prioritise set and meet deadlines.
