JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Associate is tasked with supporting activities to strengthen demand generation activities and M & E activities for family planning methods with specific reference to injectable (newly introduced family planning method). The job includes building the capacity of ASHA/ANM/AWW for generating demand for family planning methods and supporting them to reach out to difficult to reach areas and/or difficult clients and also during community events (VHND, Immunization camps and ANC camps). The job also entails building capacities of DEOs/Pharmacist for record keeping for FP & counselling and strengthening reporting system through monthly client wise reporting, HMIS and FPLMIS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and Conduct ASHA Trainers (District Community Mobilizers, Block Community Mobilizers, District ASHA and Community Process Team) training on FP methods with focus on Post-Partum Family Planning and newer contraceptives like injectable and Centchroman
  • Coordinate and Conduct coordinate ASHA and ASHA facilitators training on FP methods with focus on Post-Partum Family Planning and newer contraceptives like injectable and Centchroman
  • Coordinate and conduct Data Entry Operators training on recording and reporting of FP related data
  • Orient ASHA Trainers, ASHA facilitators and ASHA on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Informed Voluntary Decision Making (IVDM)
  • Provide facilitative supervision of trained ASHAs/ANMs/AWWs in conducting activities related to FP on the Village Health and Nutrition Days (VHNDs) to ensure the women are provided correct and complete information on FP methods to make an informed decision
  • Facilitative Supervision of ASHA trainers in training and coaching ASHAs to deliver key FP messages
  • Support and handhold ASHAs in delivering key FP messages
  • Follow up of 25% trained ASHAs
  • Provide on-site mentoring support to the data entry person at facility level for correct and consistent data entry process in appropriate software recommend by government (for eg FPLMIS)
  • Collect and compile the necessary FP data every month from facilities and share it with M & E team in consultation with his/her supervisor.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Team Leader as per need of the programme

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess the following requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Post Graduate/Graduate in public health diploma/Social Work/Social Science/Rural management with more than three years of experience as a trainer in health programs or social mobilization trainings.
  • Experience of working in public health system as ASHA trainers will be preferred
  • Familiarity with/having worked in community health worker programmes, or on empowerment of health volunteers or NGO health projects.
  • Sensitivity to and knowledge and experience of working on issues related to prevention and promotion of health care services involving Government & NGO cooperation.
  • Experience of having worked as trainer and as organizer/coordinator of health related training programmes at the district/regional level is essential.
  • Knowledge of basic M & E framework
  • Must belong to the same state or region or district

ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS:

  • Willing to work with women and ASHA workers at community level
  • Comfortable in reaching out to difficult to reach areas (slums, tribal population and marginalized women)
  • Understanding and empathy for rural poor and women.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills in English

PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with data base management programme and commonly used packages like MS Word, Excel, power point etc.
  • Language – Must be proficient in Marathi for Maharashtra and Kannada for Karnataka
  • Ability to travel up to 50-70%
