JOB DESCRIPTION

The main duty station will be in Jerusalem, with frequent travels across the West Bank (Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Nablus).

The Project manager will work under the supervision of HOM and s/he will coordinate his/her work with the SWM and Financial experts.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead the project team in the timely production of the outcomes ensuring coordination with all stakeholders involved;
  • Assemble the data, findings and assessments collected from the SWM and Financial expert;
  • Desk reviews of similar projects done in other countries and provide inputs to SWM and Financial experts for the production of the result 1 and 2;
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress per project, and present the project plans to the respective team members;
  • Coordinate internal resources, third parties and relevant stakeholders for the flawless execution of the project;
  • Ensure resource availability and the correct allocation;
  • be proactive to bring to the attention of the management/relevant stakeholders the issues arise and quickly resolve them;
  • Manage updates, project schedule and costs, according to business needs;
  • Communicate plan adjustments to stakeholders in a timely and effective manner;
  • Ensure that all outcomes and milestones are delivered on-time, in line with project’s purpose and budget;
  • Contribute to the writing of the documents and outputs required – finalizing them and/or writing the required parts – in cooperation with the other team members;
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks;
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation; and writing minutes of meetings;
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES

  • University degree on environmental/civil/management engineering, business management or similar field;
  • Minimum 6/7 years of experience in leading environment projects or provision of local public services;
  • Previous experience in leading programs in protracted emergency context;
  • Previous experience in writing strategic papers, business plans, feasibility studies or complex assessments;
  • Excellent Reporting skills in English;
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Good organizational and project management skill;
  • Solid diplomatic and leadership skills in managing a variety of internal and external relationships, especially with partners, and acting effectively as an integration team member;
  • Able to conduct risk analysis of complex emergency situation and act accordingly Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, to meet deadlines and keep the project’s files and documents;
  • Self-motivated, flexible, resilient;
  • Able to take initiative and work independently;
  • Excellent problem-solving, able to work under pressure across multiple facets of the project and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time;
  • Strong analytical capability.

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES

  • Prior experience in working with Palestinian refugees;
  • Prior experience in OPT and/or other complex areas in the Middle East;
  • Prior experience in managing solid waste management projects;
  • Knowledge of Arabic.
