Description:

WorldFish Myanmar is hiring Human Nutrition Specialist in order to promote nutrition-sensitive fish production systems, and study the factors affecting fish consumption, especially in women and young children, development and utilization of fish-based products and the effect of fish consumption on maternal health and nutrition, child growth and development.

Under the guidance of the Project Manager and Research Program Leader – Value Chains and Nutrition, the incumbent will further the project’s nutrition agenda and ensure that production gains made through sustainable aquaculture lead to increased consumption of nutrient-rich fish and fish-based products. In particular, poor and vulnerable population groups, including in the first 1000 days of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the project strategy on nutrition-sensitive fish production systems and ensure its effective implementation in Myanmar.
  • Ensure timely promotion of improved fish consumption, nutrition and health of women, youth and children.
  • Develop and implement innovative development activities for improved nutrition and health from increased fish consumption.
  • Develop and ensure effective utilization of IEC communication tools, methods and indicators for nutrition-sensitive fish production and fish consumption for improved human nutrition and health.
  • Publish quality results as well as briefs reports through a range of media.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with both national and regional levels in line with national strategies (MS-NAPN and ADS).
  • Ensure a pro-poor, innovative and gender responsive market-oriented approach is developed and implemented.
  • Develop action plans and lead implementation ensuring quality and timely deliverables; monitor progress and prepare progress reports.
  • Mentor young nutrition workers in Myanmar and build the capacity for the private sector and other partners.

Requirements:

  • Education, qualifications and experience
  • Master of Science in Nutrition and Health, Public Health or related fields.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in applied nutrition and health aspects.
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams and developing countries, especially Myanmar (WASH Projects).
  • Experience in Building Partnership with nutrition and health or nutrition sensitive agriculture projects.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural team and partners within a cultural context.
  • Competency with quantitative research analytical tools, methodologies and analyses.
  • Experience in research publication and report writing.
  • Excellent proficiency in spoken and written in English and knowledge of Myanmar language.
