Duties and Responsibilities

To support the implementation and coordination of the Beijing + 25 process, including the Global Civil Society Forum. The JPO will follow-up on major decisions to ensure efficient and effective implementation of programmatic, operational and financial results, among others.

Provide programmatic and operational support and coordination on planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation:

  • Provide input and guidance on all major initiatives to achieve the goals of the work plan, including targeted financial results;
  • Ensure effective information flow, communication and coordination on programmatic and operations across the Beijing + 25 processes, Global Civil Society Forum and all initiatives related to Beijing + 25;
  • Provide technical advice and support on the coordination, management and monitoring of all programmatic and operational functions ensuring that they follow UN Women rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Liaise with governmental representatives, UN entities, funds and programmes, civil society, donors and other stakeholders, as required by the programme;
  • Provide technical support to strategic planning of the Civil Society Division;
  • Provide technical support to the preparation of detailed annual and quarterly operational performance reports to ensure timely implementation of the project activities in accordance with its plan and approved budget;
  • Provide technical support to the monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the programme, including for auditing purposes;
  • Provide inputs to and coordinate the preparation of programmatic and operations related progress reports and submission to the Beijing + 25 Secretariat, EDO, SMT members and donors or government as per their requirements;
  • Provide any other support as requested by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s) in social sciences, development studies, business administration, or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Working experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years and maximum of 4 years of professional experience in programme implementation;
  • Experience related to management and coordination of large-scale corporate initiatives;
  • Experience in liaising with a myriad of stakeholders and partners, including government, civil society, international organizations and grassroots organizations;
  • Solid management experience in back-office support operations;
  • Prior experience of working with UN agencies will be an asset;
  • Experience in working using multiple office software packages, handling web-based management systems and ERP systems (preferably PeopleSoft);
  • All paid relevant working experience is counted, including consultancies at the percentage it was carried out. Working experience with UNV counts. However unpaid volunteer work and internships do not count towards the required years of experience but will count in evaluating your profile.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English (both written and oral);
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
