The Senior Program Manager, Pediatric HIV and eMTCT will support the HIV Access Program’s efforts to accelerate access to treatment for children and adolescents living with HIV, with the ultimate goal of achieving universal pediatric and adolescent treatment coverage, and eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV in program countries. The Senior Program Manager will help drive global strategy, and country-level implementation of the strategy.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with deep passion and commitment to achieving these ambitious goals for children and adolescents living with HIV. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is able to drive execution independently, but also be an effective collaborator across various technical teams. The candidate must have demonstrated project management experience, communication, and analytical skills; be able to problem solve, and have the ability to motivate and mentor junior members on the team. The candidate must have a strong commitment to excellence, be results-driven, solution-oriented, and get things done. This role will require approximately 40-50% travel to program countries, and key global stakeholder meetings. This manager will be based in the US, but could also be based in a program country pending leadership approval. This role will report to the Director, Pediatric HIV and eMTCT.

Responsibilities

  • Working with Access program leadership, support strategy development and implementation for pediatric HIV and eMTCT programs;
  • Develop, refine, and execute against robust project management plans, budgets and timelines across numerous work streams; track project deliverables and support with donor reporting;
  • Support pediatric HIV and eMTCT grant operations, collaborating closely with donor, partner organizations; as well as cross-functional CHAI teams, including Research and Development Team, Diagnostics, and Clinical Sciences Team;
  • Organize and chair effective project team meetings and calls; develop notes and next steps;
  • Review plans and compile reports at key milestones, identifying project risks and helping develop solutions;
  • Oversee key quantitative analyses around major pediatric HIV and eMTCT programmatic issues, for example, modelling the impact of a proven intervention, and costs to scale these interventions nationally;
  • Help design high-impact interventions to translate the results of relevant analyses into actionable plans and changes in policy and operations at the country level;
  • Track scientific and other key developments across the pediatric HIV and eMTCT space, and share research findings and implementation lessons across internal and external teams to inform execution;
  • Develop presentations and provide support as needed to project team leads;
  • Support CHAI country teams to deliver on shared objectives, e.g., assisting in development and review of work outputs, supporting project management or driving forward workstreams, onboarding for country team staff, supporting fundraising or concept note development, and supporting problem solving;
  • Other responsibilities as needed by team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a private or public sector enterprise, with increasing levels of responsibility and experience managing and mentoring other individuals;
  • Strong program management experience including managing and recruiting teams, developing and evaluating budgets, creating and implementing work plans, and monitoring both program and staff performance;
  • Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills;
  • Natural ability to build strategic relationships and interact with individuals of different backgrounds;
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills;
  • Strong analytical skills and technical proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Good strategic thinker able to think creatively around long-term program objectives and the detailed steps necessary to achieve these goals;
  • Ability to multi-task and to be effective in high-pressure situations, and able to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, both internally and externally;
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects and solve challenging problems with limited structural or operational support.
