The Activity will accomplish this goal by increasing learning opportunities, improving the quality of education, building the capacity of district officials and communities to support education, and building communities’ capacity to respond to disasters. Interventions will target various school types, including government primary schools, secondary schools, non-formal schools, and potentially alternative education for out-of-school youth. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide overall technical and administrative leadership for the Activity and serve as the primary liaison with USAID on strategic, managerial, and technical matters
  • Oversee all contractual and budgetary aspects of program management;
  • Ensure that monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and work planning activities accurately and professionally reflect program activities and achievements;
  • Professionally represent Chemonics to USAID, the Government of Bangladesh, Bangladeshi counterparts, local partners and other program stakeholders;
  • Monitor and, where necessary, modify programmatic assistance to achieve results; ensure that relevant, productive, and complementary activities are implemented effectively;
  • Identify issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner, suggesting appropriate program adjustments.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in education, public/business administration, or international relations preferred;
  • A minimum of ten years of technical experience in some or all of the following technical areas: early grade reading, teacher training and professional development, and curriculum and material design;
  • Experience serving as USAID chief of party or other management experience for efforts of similar scope, size, and complexity preferred;
  • Experience in conducting community needs assessments preferred;
  • Ability to work in complex, politically charged, unstable environments, working across diverse cultures and managing diverse teams;
  • Strong leadership ability and experience managing large teams in culturally diverse settings;
  • Familiarity with South Asia, specifically in the education sector; experience in Bangladesh is highly desired;
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity;
  • Fluency in English.
