One such role is the program associate for our Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones (SVCZ) program. This position will assist the program team in developing and carrying out work to advance the program goals and fully and effectively realize all program deliverables. The program associate will be responsible for tracking program budgets and expenses, managing program interns, working with members of the team to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the program, coordinating and supporting the implementation of programmatic initiatives and the needs of consultants and field offices, as well as performing other tasks as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent communications with all field offices;
  • Monitor emerging human rights issues in those areas covered by the SVCZ Program, including collecting and analyzing information from a wide range of sources such as governments, NGOs, and media;
  • Liaise with and support monthly monitoring and evaluation efforts by coordinating requested data points from field offices and updating monthly M&E tools; compile, revise, and edit all submitted material from field offices and consultants for monthly qualitative and quantitative reports;
  • Liaise effectively and professionally with domestic and international human rights groups and defenders in PHR’s network as directed;
  • Work with staff and trainers on curriculum and agenda of trainings and other grant deliverables including: monitoring and evaluation, preparing presentations, research, facilitating translation of relevant training documents, technology development, and organizing and distributing materials and hardware;
  • Procure, maintain, and track medical, forensic, and other supplies for the program, and manage and oversee complex supply inventory in multiple offices. Coordinate program logistics including travel itineraries, security protocols, and visa and travel documents, etc.;
  • Under guidance of SV team, work with development and finance teams to budget for all grant deliverables;
  • Monitor programmatic expenses across several complex grant budgets, and refine tools for grant tracking and reporting in collaboration with the finance and development departments;
  • Collaborate with the finance department to request fund transfers, wires and checks, and reimbursements, including uploading support documents to Concur, PHR’s expense-management system;
  • Work in collaboration with the HR department to oversee the hiring and onboarding of program interns, both undergraduate and graduate students, and volunteers; supervising and overseeing daily tasks, as well as long-term projects;
  • Facilitate the hiring of independent contractors and third party vendors, and ensure fees are paid in a timely manner;
  • Accurately translate correspondence and program materials from French to English and English to French;
  • Serve as the point person for the Boston office, including coordinating information technology and supply needs.

Qualifications

  • Currently possesses appropriate authorization to work in the United States;
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in a professional setting required, preferably in a human rights or other international NGO;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French required, additional language competency in Arabic, Burmese or Spanish a plus;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of expense-management systems, especially Concur, a plus;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in response to emerging and urgent events;
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
