Director, WFP Global Office (D2)

WFP - World Food Programme

Berlin, Germany

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND JOB PURPOSE

The Partnerships and Advocacy Department (PA) provides leadership and expertise to WFP’s global positioning, partnering and resourcing efforts to continue Saving Lives and Changing Lives. To this effect, PA steers WFP’s strategic engagement with governments, the UN system and its Member States, corporations, global foundations, international financial institutions, academia, think-tanks and the public at large.

The Global Office in Berlin (BER) proactively engages and co-develops solutions with Germany, WFP’s second largest donor. BER helps lead organization-wide efforts to meet resourcing needs through active engagement with the German government and public sector institutions while also working to position WFP as a leading UN implementing agency.

BER strives to shape public opinion as well as influence policy makers, parliamentarians and supporters in Germany to sustain funding for humanitarian assistance as well as for longer-term development activities. A key piece of this is to position WFP as an attractive partner for the corporate sector and continue expanding on successful growth in individual giving. With WFP’s Innovation Accelerator based in Munich, BER works hand-in-hand with teams across the organization focused on innovation.
