Regional Manager, Student Health, Safety & Wellbeing

Under the guidance and leadership of the Dean of Student Health, Safety and Wellbeing, the Regional Manager is responsible for day-to-day student matters for graduate and undergraduate students within an assigned region(s) according to institutional policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of response for student health, safety & wellbeing matters in a regional area(s)
  • Provide consult to program staff/faculty on a variety of matters, to include:
    • Provide orientation & training
    • Promote diversity and inclusion
    • Adjudicate conduct and Title IX
    • Attend to emotional and mental health
    • Resolve group dynamics and interpersonal issues
  • Directly support/communicate with homestay and program coordinators
  • Work cross-functionally with academics, global ops and admissions staff
  • Work collaboratively to provide pre-departure orientation to students
  • Proactively communicate with and respond to the student’s parents/guardians
  • In conjunction with the URM liaison, work cooperatively with sending schools
  • Assess, evaluate and continually improve processes, procedures, policies, programs, training and orientation sessions, manuals, handbooks, & reports
  • Manage the incident reporting system
  • Serve on rotating 24/7 duty to respond to critical incidents
  • Assist with student health history review and disability services
  • Develop and execute goals and objectives
  • Understand best practices and professional standards
  • Represent the department on committees and work groups, as assigned
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in college student development, international education or closely related field
  • Three-five years of progressive experience in international education and student affairs-particularly in a field-based, experiential learning environment
  • Understanding of challenges facing undergraduate students undertaking field-based, experiential study abroad
  • Understand the importance of affording students with equal measures of challenge and support
  • Knowledge of best practices and regulations in intl. education/student affairs
  • Be a collaborative team member who serves the needs of many stakeholders
  • Good natured, good humored, and assumes positive intent
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and independent yet interdependent
  • Collaborative, flexible, thoughtful, and ingenious
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English)
  • Understanding of the complex nature of confidentiality and the ability to discern appropriate communication with multiple audiences
  • Experience working with diverse students, faculty, and staff

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working abroad within international education/student affairs
