Solidarity Center is seeking an organizer/advocate and expert in migrant and worker rights, with sound judgement and keen political sensitivities, to serve as a Field Program Specialist (FPS) for Migration, based in Morocco (or elsewhere in the region). This is a regional position that requires constant coordination with other field offices and Washington headquarters on programs and partner relations in the area of migration and worker rights. This individual provides the Country Program Directors (CPDs) with advice and guidance on the development and implementation of migration initiatives. In the absence of the CPD in Morocco, the FPS serves as the main contact between the field office and Washington headquarters, preparing and exchanging information and coordinating activities.
The Field Program Specialist participates in program design and implementation, which includes writing concept papers and proposals and developing budgets. The FPS monitors assigned programs to meet anticipated results and budget targets, and writes program reports and evaluations. This individual must become thoroughly conversant in all of Solidarity Center's program activities in the region and with on-going political, economic, social and trade union developments in Morocco, particularly as related to migration and worker rights. This person must have working knowledge of and experience in US Government regulations and procedures related to the funding and management of grants.
The Field Program Specialist works closely with partners and affiliates in the region to coordinate their participation in Solidarity Center programs. The FPS assists with and, when necessary, provides logistical support for international visitors and participants in country-based programs conducted by the Solidarity Center, AFL-CIO, affiliates, Global Union Federations (GUFs), and other related organizations. The FPS represents Solidarity Center at various meetings and conferences with donors, partners, and other national and international public and private organizations.
