Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for all project nutrition activities
  • Support integration of nutrition-sensitive activities across agriculture and market systems activities
  • Support design, implementation, and evaluation of impact studies on market-driven nutrition-sensitive pathways and functional literacy.
  • Ensures integration of that youth and women’s empowerment strategies are integrated across Yidgiri interventions.
  • Supports identification of innovative approaches and best practices for increasing marketing and consumption of nutritious foods in local markets
  • Draws out the experience and evidence generated by field programming to develop into case studies as a contribution to the global evidence base.
  • Contributes to partnership efforts with Nutrition Director
  • Support staff capacity building efforts
  • Supports reporting and other documentation as needed
  • Supports the preparation of communications materials for nutrition

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent training in nutrition science, dietetics, public health;
  • At least 5 years of progressive professional experience working on nutrition- agriculture programs focused on reducing malnutrition by improving the diets of women and children in rural poor households;
  • Experience with nutrition-sensitive agriculture and market systems programs
  • Experience conducting nutrition analyses, assessments, and
  • Experience supporting nutrition capacity strengthening trainings;
  • Experience working on nutrition-sensitive programming in Burkina Faso or similar West African contexts
  • Experience working on projects with food transformation components, including but not limited to value-added processing, particularly for improved nutrition or shelf-life; processor and market food safety, sanitation, and hygiene; food vendor and local food market standards and policies; and or food retailing and marketing strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated successful experience collaborating across programs and strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to productively interact with a wide range and levels of organizations (government, private sector, other development project teams, NGOs, etc.); and
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English required; proficiency in another language is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of donor (USAID, BHA, USDA, DFID, GIZ, WB, et al.) priorities and regulations;
  • Fluency in French and English required
  • Additional local language skills appreciated
