The CSIS Americas Program is looking for a detail oriented, highly analytical, and mature professional to serve as Program Manager. This position is not term limited.

This individual will be responsible primarily for leading Program operations and budget management. In addition, s/he will engage in new business development, outreach efforts, and event management. In addition, s/he may contribute to policy research.

The successful candidate for this position will have intellectual curiosity for policy issues that impact Latin America. S/he will have excellent operational, organizational and project management skills, the ability to work well in a diverse team and under pressure, and solid research and writing skills. S/he will work closely with the Americas Program staff, and liaise with programs and staff across the Center. S/he will report to the Deputy Director of the Americas Program or her designee.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following

  • Responsible for Program operations.
  • Liaise with staff maintaining research agendas and timelines.
  • Plan and manage meetings, briefings, and conferences, hosting high-level officials from the U.S. government and other governments, business leaders, and others.
  • Responsible for the internship program, including recruiting, delegating assingments, providing constructive and timely feedback, and holding regular check-ins.
  • Develop and track the Program’s overall budget.
  • Ensure expenses are in line with projections.
  • Track project deliverables and ensure they are sent to funders in a complete and timely manner.
  • Monitor financial transactions and oversee adherence to existing project budgets and compliance with funding sources.
  • Track business development opportunities and pipeline for the Program.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts.
  • Draft correspondence, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and other agreements.
  • Support senior Program staff, including facilitating logistics, scheduling.
  • Handle Program communication and collaboration with other CSIS departments and operations.
  • Contribute to publications by researching, writing, reviewing, and editing reports.
  • Supervise Program Coordinator and responsible for day-to-day office operations.

Knowledge, education, and experience

  • M.A. degree in Latin American Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, or other relevant field.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Demonstrated ability to write research reports, assess and edit analytical reports, policy recommendations, and commentaries.
  • Experience with event planning, fundraising, and budgeting strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects.
  • Ability to work closely with a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds and dispositions.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to operate with discretion and flexibility.
  • Previous experience with Adobe InDesign, website management, and Salesforce, all a plus.
  • Spanish language fluency is required.
