KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Capacity Building & Support:

  • Development of Protection tools and trainings for staff and partners;
  • Support the development of capacity building plans for National Protection partners;
  • Provide regular coaching on and Program management skills to the senior Protection field Personnel;
  • Support design and organization required for assessments, baselines and evaluations, particularly in regards to communicating needs to the Protection partners team, and participate where possible;
  • Foster an understanding of the context – political, cultural etc and community expectations, within the Protection and Programs team in White and Blue Nile State – and contribute to the development of contextually appropriate Program design;
  • Contribute to country level contingency plans and support the integration of contingency planning for protection in all program planning and proposal design, where possible.

Program Management

  • Work with the Program Manager to oversee implementation of Protection project activities ensuring that services are delivered on time, on budget and in compliance with donor regulations;
  • Ensure that Protection partner field staff understand the requirements for implementation;
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure Protection program is implemented in ways responsive to communities, partners and children in line with ADRA’s principles, values and strategic plan and compliant with ADRA’s procedures;
  • Work with the Program Manager to develop detailed implementation plans including procurement and distribution schedules of Program inputs in line with Program logistics/supply chain capacity;
  • In coordination with the Program Manager, work with the Child Protection partner team staff to develop work-plans and follow up with team members regularly to ensure that activities are on track;
  • As requested by the Program Director, prepare timely and high-quality Program and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal ADRA’s requirements and any relevant external donor requirements;
  • Work with the Partnership team and Program Director and Protection Sector to identify appropriate partners for implementation of the protection response;
  • Actively monitor Protection Program activities at field level, ensuring quality implementation Program and flagging concerns to the Program Director;
  • Input into the development of M&E and indicator tracking plans for all grants, and the development of additional M&E tools as necessary to monitor project progress (led by TA with support of MEAL);
  • Work with MEAL team to identify and incorporate project suitable accountability mechanisms;
  • The Protection Officer will ensure the effective, participatory and accountable implementation of the organization’s protection activities. These will include specific protection activities varying between projects and also mainstreaming protection into the work in other sectors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Advanced degree in the field of Degree in Law, International Law, Political Sciences or related field;
  • Job experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience with graduate degree (equivalent of a Master’s), 3 years with undergraduate degree (equivalent of a BA/BS).

Experience:

  • Six years (4 years of experience progressively responsible professional working experience in any INGO doing development or humanitarian work in the area of monitoring and evaluation with perspectives on women and gender;
  • Experience of working in the field of reporting and monitoring to include experience in developing plans, tracking results, reporting to different partnering agencies;
  • One (1) year experience performing M&E functions in agricultural programming with an I/NGO;
  • Experience in implementing similar projects in Sudan or similar context.

Skills and knowledge:

  • Experience in writing reports; developing and monitoring proposal and project budgets;
  • Experience in procuring goods and services and working with consultants and vendors;
  • Experience organizing and managing program/project knowledge/information;
  • Strong writing and editing skills; excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to assume responsibilities for project of approximately $3M in funding;
  • Exceptional ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently;
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines; ability to travel internationally on short notice;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
