A day in the life of a Country Director, Colombia:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Country Director you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him;
  • Establish culture for the office and maximize your teams efforts and effectiveness;
  • Cultivate relationships and represent Samaritan’s Purse to government officials, dignitaries, other NGOs, funding agencies, and visitors;
  • Work with Program Managers across of a variety of sectors to meet physical and spiritual needs of beneficiaries;
  • Serve as director, executive administrator, and primary contact for country field projects;
  • Develop new programs, identifying and pursuing potential funding and other available resources for ongoing, new, or planned Samaritan’s Purse projects;
  • Monitor program effectiveness and financial accountability, and evaluate ongoing and new activities;
  • Ensure proper financial accounting and monthly reporting of all funds and financial activity;
  • Monitor potential and present emergencies and keep Samaritan’s Purse headquarters informed of events, including crisis response options;
  • Work with Regional Leadership to capture and share powerful stories;
  • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of your team;
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and extensive international humanitarian experience in a management role with ability to lead large cross cultural teams; or a minimum of 5 or more years’ related international experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds;
  • Financial management experience and knowledge of project planning and implementation;
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required but can be completed after hire).
