OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Unitaid is a global health organization engaged in finding innovative solutions to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases more quickly, affordably, and effectively in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). Unitaid's mission is to maximize the effectiveness of the global health response by catalyzing equitable access to better health products. Its work includes funding initiatives to address HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis, cervical cancer and reproductive, maternal, new-born, child, and adolescent health more broadly.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Reporting to the Governance and Board Relations Manager, the incumbent is expected to perform duties including but not limited to the following:
- Support the work of the Board Relations Team to provide strategic coordination between the Executive Board, Executive Committees, their leadership, major partner organizations and the Secretariat;
- Ensure Regular and substantive exchange of information with the Board and its Committees to enable alignment and active engagement in governance processes which inform strategic decisions of Unitaid;
- Lead and coordinate the preparation and development of briefings, documents and presentations for Board and Committee meetings;
- Undertake the role of focal point function for various Executive Board constituencies as required;
- Prepare Governance-related documentation (resolutions, agendas, governance-related pre-reads, briefing notes);
- Co-ordinate and represent Unitaid at Board Related events, country visits, induction sessions, working groups, and related events as required;
- Lead and coordinate the management of the Executive Board SharePoint and decision-making platform;
- Coordinate Financial, budgetary and planning processes for Governance and Board Relations;
- Performs Other related duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential:
- University degree in business management, public relations, international relations or related fields.
Desirable:
- Project Management training or certification.
Experience
Essential:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the field of health and international relations with specific substantial exposure to governance and board relations;
- Experience in coordinating the work of Executive Boards and other Governance structures in public health or international development organizations;
- Experience in coordinating high-level international meetings.
Desirable:
- Understanding of global health issues, the development landscape and the three diseases;
- Knowledge of Unitaid and WHO policies and procedures;
- Experience managing complex projects;
- Experience working in an international cross-cultural environment.
Skills
- Effective understanding of governance priorities, processes and procedures;
- project management, relationship management, diplomacy and tact and sensitivity to operations and governance environments;
- Effective communication, coordination and organizational skills;
- Skills in managing and controlling finance, budget and planning processes;
- Good writing and editing skills;
- Advanced knowledge of WHO Rules and regulations;
- Good IT skills (MSOffice, SharePoint).
