The Area Coordinator PM assists the Senior Programs Manager in providing overall operational management and programmatic oversight. The Area Coordinator PM will serve as the senior representative for activities related to programming in the designated area while seeking to promote success of area-specific programming and staff development. The Area Coordinator PM plays an instrumental role in ensuring compassionate, professional, and efficient delivery of humanitarian aid to targeted demographics.

A day in the life of an Area Coordinator PM:

In the role of Area Coordinator PM you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Manage operations, human resources, financial management, and community relations for programs in designated area, working closely with HR, Operations, and Finance departments in the area to both supervise operational staff and ensure that the base operations are set up and implemented in line with Ministry policies.
  • Supervise Program Managers in the day-to-day implementation of their programs, focusing on ensuring that operational procedures are efficiently supporting the implementation of program objectives.
  • Directly supervise 5 supervisory employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Samaritans Purse policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensure project spending is conducted in adherence to Samaritans Purse, donor, and statutory guidelines and policies.
  • Support Program Managers and Program Development Officer to develop and set up new projects in line with Samaritans Purse in-country strategy and available opportunities, coordinating with local staff and community stakeholders where necessary.
  • Assist in ensuring all reporting to Samaritans Purse Affiliate Offices, government, and donors is timely, accurate, appropriate, and of the highest quality.
  • Assist in strategic development of the country program with program and budget proposals.
  • Provide professional representation of Samaritans Purse at meetings with government, donor and civil society partners, actively and strategically engaging with stake holders to increase support and publicity for Samaritans Purse Programming.
  • Assist the Deputy Country Director in oversight of day to day operations, including hosting teams and visitors.
  • Assist the Deputy Country Director in fostering spiritual support, encouragement and growth among all staff.
  • 5% of time in contact with Samaritans Purse beneficiaries (children, young adults, adults at risk) promoting and safeguarding their welfare within the context of Samaritans Purse operations.
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, volunteers, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public within the workplace, in the community, and before the general public.
  • Reflect Godly character by conducting activities in a manner consistent with the Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Christian Code of Conduct, Statement of Fidelity to the Holy Scriptures and Distinct Objectives.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent preferably in Business, Economics, Health and Nutrition, Food Security, livelihood WASH from an accredited university; two to four (2-4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
  • Practical, quick, reasoning skills; must be able to keep communication lines open with all parties in program of scheduling changes
  • Thorough knowledge of the workings of major donors and their perspectives, requirements, and standards
  • Possess organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to coordinate activities with other agencies, build and maintain positive working relationships
  • Possesses strong cross-cultural communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of computer systems and its applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and iForm
  • Must have analytical, statistical, and report writing skills
  • Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Arabic language skills preferred
