Under the direct supervision of the Officer in Charge of Somalia Programme, and within delegated authority, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in architecture, civil engineering, urban and regional planning, sociology, development studies, economics or physical sciences relevant to urban planning and management. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in areas related to human settlements, project or programme management and/or development, including at least three (3) years of experience at the international level is required. Post-conflict experience is required. Working experience with the UN or an international Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) is required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
