Solidarity Center is seeking a dynamic organizer and self starter to fill a new role as Field Program Specialist (FPS) in Sudan, providing direct support to the Sudanese labor movement. This individual must become thoroughly conversant in all of Solidarity Center's program activities in the region and with on-going political, economic, social and trade union developments in Sudan. In the absence of a Country Program Director, the FPS is the main contact between the field office and Washington headquarters. This person must have working knowledge of and experience in US Government regulations and procedures related to the funding and management of grants.
The Field Program Specialist participates in the design and implementation of trade union development programs, which includes writing concept papers and proposals and developing budgets. The FPS monitors programs to meet budget targets and programmatic results, and must produce well-written program reports and evaluations. In the absence of a Country Program Director, the FPS prepares and exchanges information and coordinates activities with the corresponding regional office, as required. This person provides advice and guidance on the development and implementation of programs and the effective management of the field office and its programs.
The Field Program Specialist works closely with affiliates in the region to coordinate their participation in Solidarity Center programs. The FPS assists with and, when necessary, provides logistical support for international visitors and participants in country-based programs conducted by the Solidarity Center, AFL-CIO, affiliates, Global Union Federations (GUFs), and other related organizations. The FPS represents Solidarity Center at various meetings and conferences with donors, partners, and other national and international public and private organizations.
