Humanitarian & Development Research Coordinator

Job Purpose

This is an exciting and dynamic position within GOAL’s Global Citizenship department, reporting directly into the Global Citizenship Manager. The Research Coordinator will play a vital role in generating research, content and opportunities to shape GOAL’s strategic objectives, in particular public engagement campaigning and influencing.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Research and development of briefing papers communicating GOAL’s programmatic evidence and expert position across GOAL’s key strategic priority areas; Humanitarian Crisis, Resilient Health and Food and Nutrition Security;
  • Collate evidence-based research and supporting materials in close collaboration with GOAL’s programmes, technical, MEAL and other teams at HQ and country level to translate technical documents into well-written and engaging content suitable for a wide range of audiences;
  • Identification and coordination of engagement opportunities to amplify GOAL’s strategic objectives aligned with international development and humanitarian priorities including external events, webinars, seminars, annual conferences and workshops;
  • Identify and provide opportunities and platforms to share the voices and experience of communities, partners and other key stakeholder with whom GOAL works globally;
  • Active engagement and relationship strengthening in sector networks and working groups.

Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Relevant post graduate qualification ideally in international relations/affairs, humanitarian, development studies or human rights; other relevant qualifications may be considered;
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience working with key issues in the humanitarian and development sector and relevant international and national contexts, systems and processes;
  • Strong understanding of GOAL’s key strategic priority areas; humanitarian crises, resilient health, food and nutrition security and global citizenship;
  • Proven experience in researching and producing materials for varied audiences;
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing research and content shaping public communication and engagement campaigns;
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills (oral & written), with the ability to communicate complex messages in an accessible manner for varied audiences;
  • Proven project management, time management and organisational and administrative skills with ability to optimise independent use of time against variable workload;
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic team player, happy to share learning and collaborate while also able to work on own initiative.

Desired

  • English is the working language of GOAL. Competency in an additional language used in GOAL programmes is an advantage;
