Job purpose

The Project Officer will support the Coordinator - Project Delivery in the effective planning, reporting and documentation of GiveWell and ASCEND interventions in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, CAR, Chad, Cote D’Ivoire, DRC, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. This will include, but not be confined to, collating relevant information and data for reporting and planning purposes and working closely with the NTD Finance Officers, Country Offices and technical Advisors for consistency of data across systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Align learning, documentation and reporting systems across both programmes with Sightsavers systems, national NTD initiatives and emerging m-Health systems;
  • Work effectively with other colleagues within the Sightsavers UK and the Sightsavers Country Offices as well as with relevant partner organisations;
  • Work alongside field-based country teams in what could be challenging environments;
  • Work alongside the Coordinator Project delivery to Report and Document Givewell interventions in 14 countries and provide support to ASCEND as needed;
  • Collate and disseminate project progress;
  • Review information from the field status reports and team meetings, escalating issues whenever required;
  • Ensure timely evidence-based reports for Sightsavers, DFID and GiveWell;
  • Inform country offices and partners of all reporting requirements including any changes that may occur over the project lifetime, providing guidance and advice where ever required;
  • Participate in programme and NTD team meetings;
  • Write and disseminate minutes from related ASCEND/GiveWell meetings;
  • Ensure relevant, up-to-date, technically precise evidence based programme information and data is shared with the communications team and assist in creating content;
  • Working with appropriate field, technical hub and HH colleagues; ensure that timely, accurate data in respect of activities, outputs and outcomes are consistently reported within the NTD Status Reports, myCLAIMs, M& E framework, programme Portal and SIM Card;
  • Work closely with the NTD Finance Team to ensure that agreements (COA and PFA), due diligence reports, individual country and consolidated log frames are up to date and stored;
  • Facilitate effective internal communications in respect of project reporting and documentation.

Work with the Coordinator Project Delivery to:

  • Develop and roll out learning processes and systems;
  • Develop a workable approach to accurately identify and disseminate learning;
  • Working together with relevant Technical advisors, identify and disseminate standard best practice;
  • Ensure all interventions uphold a commitment to gender, equality, social inclusion, value for money and sustainability;
  • Support the successful outcomes of all annual review and planning approaches;
  • Work with Technical advisors, Country teams, Integrated Systems unit and PSMT to collate and update annual activity logs and logical framework;
  • Coordinate activities and share learnings within Sightsavers and partner Organisations;
  • Actualise synergies between ASCEND, Givewell and other programmes within Sightsavers;
  • Keep up to date with relevant cross cutting issues and debates that they may impact control/elimination of NTDs;
  • Undertake tasks or projects as required by the Project Delivery Coordinator and other programme colleagues.

Entry requirements

To be successful in this role you will be educated to degree level, preferably post graduate level with demonstrable skilled in both written and verbal communication in English. The candidate would also have proven management experience – ideally in the development sector and have excellent analytical skills and be extremely organised. The role would require someone that is able to think quickly, responsively and effectively translate concepts into action plans.

The ideal candidate will be a capable people person with a diplomatic understanding of cultural and ethnically sensitive issues as well as able to build strong relationships and work collaboratively as part of a global team. Preferably they will be able to work in French and/or Portuguese; understand the commitment to equality, gender and social inclusion. We would also ask that the candidate have an ability to facilitate group training sessions and build capacity in developing country contexts in areas relevant to position functions and have experience of NTD programming and/or the public health sector.
