Summary:

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those effected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. We are seeking a Country Director to provide overall leadership of our response and programming. Will you join us in reaching out to those in the Bahamas with the hope of Jesus Christ?

A day in the life of a Country Director:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and then we join together in prayer for one another, as well as praying for staff and volunteers serving around the globe.

In the role of Country Director, Bahamas, you will:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him;
  • Provide overall vision, management and leadership to Samaritan’s Purse activities in the Bahamas;
  • Develop and implement a staff reporting structure; direct HR functions of recruiting, onboarding, staff care, performance reviews, work permits, etc.;
  • Represent Samaritan’s Purse with government officials, dignitaries, other NGO’s, funding agencies and visitors;
  • Conduct field assessments and develop relevant programming, pursuing potential funding and resources;
  • Monitor program effectiveness and financial accountability, evaluate new and ongoing activities;
  • Oversee implementation of Samaritan’s Purse guidelines for program development, procurement, finances, safety and security;
  • Monitor potential and present emergencies, keeping IHQ informed, including potential response options;
  • Ensure on-time submission of monthly reports, both financial and programming, maintaining high integrity and transparency.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Country Director or related international work experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university in a relevant field;
  • Proven management and leadership experience; Strong relational skills and financial management skills;
  • Previous experience managing USGs preferred;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills;
  • Possess diplomacy and negotiating skills; Clear understanding of working with major donors, their perspectives, requirements and standards;
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment;
  • Spiritually mature, focused on the spiritual well-being of your team and goal of sharing the Gospel;
  • Ability to travel to field sites to monitor projects;
  • Fluency in English (required);
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required).
